Public Comment Opportunity for WI Wake Boating Policy

From Cody Kamrowski, WI Wakesports Reform Coalition

At this time we are anticipating an industry backed bill to be proposed, but we are unsure of the timeline but we will make sure to keep everyone informed as we hear more.

BUT, there is a public comment opportunity in Oneida and Vilas Counties on May 5th and 6th to Senate President Mary Felzkowski and Representative Rob Swearingen.

If you are a resident in that area or have contacts in the area, now is the time to engage and make your positions known! (below is the list of the meetings, times and locations)

Things to note for the Listening Sessions:

  • Arrive 45-30 minutes early, space may be limited and potentially the first X number of people through the door will be allowed.
  • Be careful with your message. Do not direct negative narrative towards the legislators or wake enhanced boaters. Instead, talk about direct negative impacts of wake enhanced boating.
  • We are here to talk business, public policy and respect is the #1 goal.
  • Below is a screen capture of the listening session.
  • Here are the coalition’s policy pillars and talking points for your reference.

May 5th, Manitowish Waters At the Town Hall, 10am – 11am

May 5th, Minocqua At the Town Hall, 3pm-4pm

May 6th, Eagle River At the City Hall, 11am-12pm

May 6th, Rhinelander At the City Hall, 2:30pm-3:30pm

Thank you everyone for your continued support and efforts!
